Job Description Essential Job Functions: Improve the design, robustness, and process control of paint department operations Lead and support equipment, automation, and control panel upgrades within the paint area Integrate conveyor control systems with paint robots and related automation Improve data acquisition systems to enhance production reporting, downtime tracking, and performance metrics Implement safety device upgrades and logic changes to support zone safety systems and regulatory compliance Upgrade networking and communications infrastructure to improve system reliability and reduce downtime Develop, modify, and optimize Modicon and Allen-Bradley PLC logic to increase equipment uptime and throughput Implement cost-reduction and efficiency improvements for both new and existing equipment and processes Provide technical support to Production, Maintenance, and Engineering teams for continuous improvement initiatives Support troubleshooting of paint equipment, automation, and control systems to minimize production interruptions Participate in capital projects, equipment installations, and process launches as needed Ensure changes comply with safety, quality, and environmental standards Qualifications: Working knowledge of paint department processes and principles preferred General understanding of production control and scheduling systems Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and electrical drawings Working knowledge of statistical analysis and process capability concepts Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with strong Excel skills (Access a plus) Allen-Bradley PLC experience required Strong knowledge of PLC programming, networking, and industrial communications Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment Effective written and verbal communication skills across all organizational levels Knowledge of ISO 14001 and IATF 16949 (TS 16949) requirements Strong organizational and time management skills Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles Basic understanding of paint application processes Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of five (5) years of engineering or controls experience in a manufacturing environment Automotive or Tier 1 supplier experience strongly preferred Physical Requirements: Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to noise, moving equipment, and industrial processes Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs or ladders as required Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds Ability to work extended hours, weekends, or off shifts as required to support production and project needs. Requirements

  • Working knowledge of paint department processes and principles preferred
