About The Position

Reporting directly to the Director of Distribution, the Paint and Finishing Manager oversees all painting and finishing operations for lighting fixtures, components, and related products. This role ensures high-quality surface preparation, coating application, and curing processes that meet company standards and customer specifications. The supervisor manages the paint team, coordinates workflow, enforces safety and environmental regulations, and maintains production efficiency within the painting department.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ previous experience in painting, finishing, or related production environment; management experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certifications in finishing techniques required
  • Fluency in speaking and writing Spanish required
  • Strong aptitude for and proficiency navigating production systems and tools
  • Experienced in applying specialty coatings to metal surfaces
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and changing priorities
  • Ability to achieve results both independently and through others by fostering a spirit of teamwork and cooperation
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication across all contact channels, including verbal and written
  • Available to work a flexible schedule including weekends, early mornings, and late evenings
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered for this role

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train and mentor a team of painters and paint line operators, providing coaching, training, and performance feedback to ensure productivity and quality.
  • Plan, schedule and assign painting schedules in collaboration with production leadership, engineering and quality departments to meet deadlines and optimize workflow.
  • Enforce and maintain strict safety standards and cleanliness across all work areas, ensuring proper use of PPE.
  • Inspect finished parts for defects and ensure compliance with quality assurance requirements to guarantee consistency and durability.
  • Manage the execution and application of specialty finishes such as leafing, patinas, and custom coatings to achieve unique designs.
  • Maintain and calibrate paint booths, spray guns, mixing systems and ventilation systems.
  • Educate Team Members for surface preparation, priming, cleaning, degreasing, and removing contaminants to ensure proper adhesion and finish.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools, spray booths, and equipment to extend functionality and longevity.
  • Support and recommend continuous process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall quality.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations and promotes a culture of safety, teamwork and accountability.
  • Track material usage and inventory levels for paints and related supplies.
  • Maintain production records, quality reports and maintenance logs
  • Must demonstrate commitment, dependability, punctuality, and adherence to agreed-upon schedule, while being present in the workplace to effectively collaborate and communicate with co-workers and teams.
