About The Position

Position Summary The Pain Management Radiologic Technologist – Special Procedures supports physicians during interventional pain management procedures by providing advanced imaging services, primarily fluoroscopy. This role requires strong technical expertise, strict adherence to radiation safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced procedural environment while ensuring exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities Perform fluoroscopic and radiographic imaging for pain management and special procedures, including but not limited to epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, facet joint injections, radiofrequency ablations, and temporary spinal cord stimulator procedures. Prepare procedure rooms, imaging equipment, and supplies according to established protocols. Position patients accurately to obtain optimal imaging while ensuring patient comfort and safety. Assist physicians during procedures by operating fluoroscopy equipment and anticipating procedural needs. Maintain strict radiation safety practices in compliance with ALARA principles and regulatory standards. Ensure proper use, documentation, and monitoring of contrast media when applicable. Clean, restock, and maintain procedure rooms and imaging equipment between cases. Monitor patients during procedures for adverse reactions and promptly report concerns to clinical staff. Adhere to infection control, HIPAA, and facility policies at all times. Participate in quality assurance, continuing education, and departmental training as required.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology or related field.
  • Current ARRT certification in Radiography (R).
  • Active state radiologic (SCQRSA) technologist license
  • Current BLS certification, or will obtain within 90 days of hire
  • Demonstrated experience with fluoroscopy and special procedures.
  • Proficiency in fluoroscopic imaging and radiation safety.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-acuity situations.
  • Commitment to patient-centered care and confidentiality.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and assist with patient transfers while wearing a lead apron or vest/skirt
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies as required.
  • Manual dexterity to operate imaging equipment and accessories.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in pain management, interventional radiology, or surgical procedures.
  • Knowledge of sterile technique and procedural workflows.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
