THE ROLE Insomniac Events is seeking a highly motivated and proactive Publishing Intern to join the records team in Calabasas, CA. This position will assist & learn catalog management, metadata, and creative operations. This is a hands-on role designed for someone passionate about music publishing, metadata organization, and the intersection of creativity and business in the music industry. This position reports to the Insomniac Music Group Publishing Manager. This is a paid internship and is not a remote position.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Must be able to work out of Calabasas, CA office
  • Typical commitment is 16-29 hours per week
  • Must be motivated with an “Everything is possible” attitude
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an active problem-solving mindset with a sense of urgency for projects large and small
  • Passion for music publishing, A&R, or the music business
  • Experienced with Google Sheets/Excel
  • Must be comfortable learning new catalog platforms (DISCO)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Must have ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Must be willing to travel to work during holidays, evening and weekend hours, as required, to meet deadlines
  • Must be able to tolerate loud noise levels and drastic temperature climates while working on site at various event location
  • Must be able to work in open concept office space
  • Applicants for employment in the U.S. must possess work authorization, which does not require sponsorship by Insomniac for a visa.

Responsibilities

  • Track ISWCs and audit publishing records for accuracy
  • Add split information for exploited songs in DISCO
  • Tag and organize the full catalog in DISCO
  • Upload audio to the Master Publishing Rights sheet
  • Support writer catalog cleanup and spotlight creation
  • Create writer spotlights for socials/marketing/sync
  • Update and maintain the Publishing Spotify playlist
  • Assist with publishing social channels, bios, and website content
  • Contribute to website upgrades and improvements
  • All other publishing related duties and projects as assigned
