Job Description I. JOB SUMMARY The PACS/RIS Manager oversees the installation, operation and maintenance of the PACS and other Radiology systems. Performs system backups and recover. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to PACS. Provide end user support for PACS system and Radiology applications. This position works closely with the staff radiologists, and referring physicians on use of the PACS system. The PACS/RIS Manager performs other quality control and radiology technologist functions as assigned by the Director of Imaging Services. The technologist must adhere to State Licensure scope of practice and medical staff approved protocols. II. ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES a. Supports the mission of Lawrence Memorial Hospital. b. Performs customer examinations proficiently, efficiently and safely. c. Troubleshoots and repairs radiology equipment. d. Provides training, education and competency evaluation for Radiology Computer Systems. e. Interact and assist with other hospital systems in coordination with IT. f. Works with all departments that use the Radiology Computer System. Monitoring data integrity. g. Provides input on all hardware, software enhancements and upgrades, education, training and preventative maintenance. h. Participates in decisions relating to computing performance in all areas of radiology, including interfacing with outside participants and suppliers. i. Checking the functionality of system hardware. j. Confirming functionality for examination archive and Web distribution processes. k. Monitoring the PACS itself and any integrated systems. l. Planning the strategy and implementation testing for the successful performance of upgrades to the PACS or core components. m. Constantly evaluating and updating the hardware of key PACS components. Performs database backups. n. Educating stakeholders; bringing new modalities and equipment online to the PACS.
