About The Position

The PACS Assistant position is a part-time role within Radiology Informatics at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, requiring 16 hours per week, typically two day shifts. The primary responsibilities include managing current imaging exams, retrieving archived images, and producing image CDs for various internal and external parties. The assistant will also be responsible for electronically pushing images via email, Ambra, or VPN, and digitizing hard copy films for storage and interpretation on PACS. Adherence to system protocols and departmental policies is crucial to ensure efficient patient and image flow. The role requires proficiency in specific healthcare IT systems and strong organizational and communication skills.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate.
  • None required experience.
  • Proficient in AAH PACs, McKesson and EPIC systems.
  • Performs all job responsibilities in an efficient and thorough manner.
  • Maintain competencies and comply with continuing education as necessary.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new system applications.
  • Proficient computer skills including experience in word processing.
  • Excellent public relations/communication skills and demonstrated professionalism to interact with physicians, patients, visitors and team members.
  • Excellent organizational skills and customer service skills.
  • Must be able to multi-task and a high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, high volume area with little or no supervision.
  • Must be able to follow directions and work well both independently and with technologists, physicians and patients.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews all current imaging exams and manages by retrieving archived imaging from a storage database.
  • Utilizes PACs to produce image CDs for patients, departments, and clinics as required.
  • Pushes images electronically via email, Ambra, or VPN.
  • Digitizes hard copy films as required for storage/interpretation on PACs.
  • Implements protocols as directed by the system PACs Administrators.
  • Participates in department in-service programs.
  • Follows PACs policies and procedures which enable patients and their images to flow through the system in an efficient manner.
