The Opportunity Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise PACS/RIS/VNA/voice dictation environments (Picture Archiving and Communication System/Radiology Information System/Vendor Neutral Archive) (e.g., Sectra, Agfa, Fuji Synapse, Philips IntelliSpace, GE, Nuance) including installations, upgrades, patches, test/production change control, and disaster recovery. Collaborate with vendors to integrate PACS with other clinical locations. Monitor image workflows end-to-end, manage routing/prefetch rules, queues, retries, and storage lifecycle; resolve exceptions to ensure complete, timely capture and retrieval. Maintain integration interfaces (DICOM, HL7, IHE profiles) with EMR/RIS/modalities; collaborate with vendors and internal teams to troubleshoot connectivity and message mapping issues. Perform QA reviews and auditing of imaging data integrity, study merges/splits, worklist accuracy, hanging protocols, and modality worklist; document standard operating procedures and controls. Partner with Imaging leadership on workflow design, downtime procedures, and continuous improvement; serve as the radiology technology liaison to IT. Oversee the daily operations of the PACS, performing regular maintenance and conducting quality control audits. Ensure the efficient storage and retrieval of medical images, implementing routing solutions and performing backups and archiving. Identify mismatches in patient demographics, accession numbers, or study descriptions. Reprocess or resend failed HL7 messages after validation. Test message integrity, field mapping, and segment structure (MSH, PID, OBR, OBX) prior to go-live. Provide tier-1/2 support for imaging apps and peripherals (viewers, dictation mics, 3D, CD import, workstations), escalating to tier-3/vendors when needed; manage tickets, SLAs, user accounts and access, as well as knowledge base articles specific to imaging/radiology. Enforce security & compliance (HIPAA, access controls, encryption, patch cadence, audit trails); participate in change management and after-hours on-call for critical incidents. Train end users (radiologists, techs, clinicians) on best practices; collect feedback and drive usability improvements. Act as a point of contact between the radiology department, other clinical departments, and vendors to document system status during emergencies.
