About The Position

Responsible for the safe, damage free and accurate set up of shipments to Tier I or Tier II customers. Satisfies Somic America’s Quality and Environmental goals and objectives in completion of activities or duties (reference Quality and Environmental Policies and documentation). ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Prepares specific shipments for export and other Tier I or Tier II customer shipments:  Coordinates the order of staging with team members.  Verifies all orders to the Summary Report and/or Check sheet.  Visual glance into each tote. Checking for any non-conformances.  Stage and verify all orders by following the standardized work process to ensure they are error free.  Initials Summary Report when pallets are built.  Load roller conveyers with finished goods using walk behind lift or forklift.  Unloads pallets from order building area and transports to wrapping area.  Wraps, straps and labels pallets as necessary.  Records quality, staging and AIM non-conformances on the correct Defect Tracking Log. Conducts an inspection to ensure all returned packaging complies with customer standards. Coordinates with Shipping/Receiving Supervisor to complete PM activities that ensure supplies are readily available. Operates industrial forklift truck or walk behind lift to assist in loading or moving materials and products. Transports finished goods to appropriate storage areas. Assists in maintaining Finished Goods FIFO (first in / first out). Utilizes standardized work documents to follow proper procedures for job duties. Communicates shipment concerns to the Shipping/Receiving/Warehouse Supervisor or Shipping/Receiving Manager to help maintain 100% on-time delivery. Maintains safe work area and works in safe manner, in accordance with Somic America’s Workplace Organization Using 5S (Wytheville) document (#W064467). Submits suggestions for improvements. (Kaizen)

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret a variety of documents such as manifests, summary reports, correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations (Team Meetings) to other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must have basic understanding of tablet/scanner use for AIM
