About The Position

The Packer position is responsible for filling and stacking material into bags, sacks or boxes of product.

Requirements

  • Able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders, work in confined spaces, fast paced work and janitorial work
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

Responsibilities

  • Sets up packer with correct information to fill and seal bags according to schedule
  • Stacks bags and ensures that they are the correct weight with correct information
  • Assembles, fills, samples and hauls totes or super sacks and ensures that they are the correct weight with the correct information
  • Takes magnet samples and delivers to lab
  • Cleans bins, legs, conveyors, Sweep, dumper and packer and fills out proper documentation
  • Sets up jet printers with correct information
  • Operates control panel board
  • Performs daily housekeeping list and cleans pack area
  • Cleans, prepares and loads bulk trailers
  • Follows all safety, GMP, plant rules and policies
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Plant Manager
