About The Position
Silgan is a leading worldwide manufacturer of dispensing and specialty closures for food, beverage, health care, garden, home, personal care, fragrance and beauty products. They are also a leading manufacturer of metal containers in North America and Europe, and the largest manufacturer of metal food containers in North America. Additionally, they are a leading manufacturer of custom designed plastic containers in North America for a variety of markets. The Packer position involves ensuring product safety and quality, monitoring machine operation for correct part collection and counting, adhering to required stack patterns, identifying nonconformities, evaluating product quality, reporting food safety and quality issues, taping and labeling boxes for shipment, and maintaining a clean and safe working area.
Responsibilities
- Ensure product safety and quality as it applies to all the duties listed below
- Monitor machine operation to ensure parts are collected into storage boxes and are counted correctly
- Ensure parts packed into storage boxes are in adherence to the required stack pattern
- Identify nonconformities and inform the Shift QA
- Evaluate product to ensure high quality and conformance with established standards
- Report any food safety and quality problems or concerns
- Tape boxes shut, label the boxes, and stack for shipment
- Maintain a clean and safe working area
- Perform sweeping, cleaning, sorting duties as necessary
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and procedures
