About The Position

DPHR is hiring a Crater/Packer! Job Description The Crater/Packer is accountable for packing/crating a variety of products and materials leaving the warehouse. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: fabricating wooden crates or boxes using hand/power tools; reading blueprints, shipping notices and other specifications and inspecting product to determine size/shape of container, materials to be used and types of supports/braces to be used. There are no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent
Ability to work and communicate well with others, meet tight deadlines, and manage busy work schedule
Effectively work in an environment requiring repetitive job responsibilities
Ability to focus on safety and quality
Basic computer skills required
Required to stand, bend, walk, sit, use hands to operate office equipment, talk, and hear
May occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 50 pounds
Ability to use a variety of hand tools, forklift and other machinery

Nice To Haves

Forklift operating experience preferred
Some carpentry experience preferred

Responsibilities

Load materials and products into package processing equipment
Clean containers, materials, supplies or work areas using cleaning solutions and hand tools
Record product, packaging, and order information on specified forms and records
Examine and inspect containers, materials and products to ensure that packing specifications are met
Measure, weigh, and count products and materials
Lay out dimensions on materials with ruler, measuring tape and pencil
Saw materials to size using hand/power saws
Assemble materials using various tools and place them in container/crate
Build crate and prepares for shipping including applying labels and other packaging requirements
Count items to be packed to ensure compliance with shipping orders
Maintain and clean and safe work area
Update supplies as needed
