About The Position

The Packaging Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that all packaging materials, printing and processes meet internal and external quality standards. This role involves developing and implementing quality control systems, conducting audits, analyzing packaging failures, approvals of first articles, and collaborating with TJX's overseas offices to drive continuous improvement in packaging performance and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Packaging Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in packaging quality or manufacturing quality engineering.
  • Knowledge of packaging materials (e.g., corrugate, paperboard, plastics, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of packaging testing standards
  • Experience with quality systems (ISO 9001, GMP, or similar).
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to travel 25% of time both domestic and internationally

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with overseas buying offices and suppliers to ensure packaging materials meet TJX's specifications and quality expectations.
  • Creation and maintain of a color management system to validate TJX's colors standards are being accurately implemented during manufacturing.
  • Develop and maintain packaging quality standards, procedures, and inspection protocols.
  • Evaluate packaging materials and designs for compliance with regulatory, safety, and performance requirements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions reports (CARs) for packaging-related defects or failures.
  • Develop packaging inspection criteria for both internal and external use.
  • Perform incoming inspection on both post-production and first articles of packaging components and finished goods (e.g. mechanical, fit and function, and color).
  • Lead packaging validation and qualification activities (e.g., ISTA testing, color validations testing, color fastness testing, etc.).
  • Support new product launches by reviewing packaging designs for manufacturability (DFM) and quality risks.
  • Qualify new packaging vendors both domestically and internationally.
  • Maintain documentation for audits, and quality reports.
  • Monitor and report packaging quality metrics (e.g., defect rates, distribution complaints, etc.).
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives using tools like Six Sigma, FMEA, and SPC.
