About The Position

The Packaging Maintenance Manager will supervise and provide leadership for the packaging department personnel with an emphasis on maintaining quality, improving cost effectiveness, and process improvements that lead to customer satisfaction. Under general direction and guidance, lead all shift(s) activities and manage departmental documentation related to the packaging equipment. The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees in this position. Requirements

  • Five (5) years’ work experience as a technician in a food processing environment.
  • Five (5) years’ experience working on scales, VFFS baggers, ink jet coders/printers, and associated equipment.
  • Seasonal travel to Yuma, AZ & Salinas, CA-REQUIRED.
  • Electrical and Controls training

Nice To Haves

  • Ishida and Pacmac factory training a plus (or similar equipment)

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for staffing, training, coaching, development and corrective action (progressive discipline) of employees in accordance with current policies and procedures.
  • Recommends measures to improve packaging processes, equipment performance and quality of product.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures.
  • Meet operational standards by resolving problems and identifying systems/process improvements.
  • Accountable for all shift related activities and scheduled commitments.
  • Lead and involve employees in safety initiatives.
  • Hires, reviews, and evaluates, counsels, disciplines and discharges staff in accordance with company policies as required.
  • Accountable for supervising staff in a manner that will ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Work closely with engineering, maintenance personnel, and production associates to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to packaging equipment,
  • Also work with other systems such as refrigeration, compressed air, nitrogen generation, and processing line machinery
  • Lead and/or participate in projects, equipment modifications and in conducting verifications of equipment operations.
  • Analyze packaging equipment performance; specifically: scales, baggers, metal detectors, conveyors, palletizers and printers.
  • Utilizing the CMMS program to ensure all maintenance activities are documented and that Preventative Maintenance (PM) are being created and completed as scheduled.
  • Prepares and communicates daily reports related to production efficiency, waste, downtime, quality, overtime, process problems and related information.
  • Communicates previous day’s results and related information to associates in an effective manner.
  • Assist in creation and implementation of operating procedures and guidelines.
  • Direct equipment/shift changeover process to ensure maximum efficiencies.
  • Remains in communication with all levels of management advising them of any difficulties that may arise. Takes appropriate/immediate action to resolve any concerns or issues.
  • This role will fill in for the Maintenance Manager when they are not onsite.
