They produce Junior Mints, Sugar Babies, Charleston Chews, Junior Caramels, Tootsie Mini Bites, and Mini Bites. Job Summary: Cambridge Brands Inc. is seeking an experienced Packaging Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor to lead the Packaging Maintenance Department and ensure the plant’s packaging equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role is responsible for driving maintenance performance, supervising skilled personnel, and collaborating across departments to optimize uptime, improve processes, and support a strong safety and quality culture. The ideal candidate brings extensive technical expertise in food production packaging systems, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred) or technical training with equivalent experience.
  • Ten years of experience in a food production environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of food processing and packaging systems, machinery, controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proven supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and effectively.
  • Knowledge of electronic control systems, including PLCs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform repairs.
  • Understanding of safety practices, regulations, and procedures.
  • Proficiency with basic computer applications such as MS Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to lift/handle up to 35 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Packaging Maintenance Department to ensure safe, sanitary, and efficient equipment performance within budget.
  • Plan and manage maintenance activities, including preventative programs, spare parts, and resource allocation.
  • Train, develop, and supervise department personnel to ensure strong technical capability and effective performance.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to support safe operations, efficient line changeovers, and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate outside services and support capital and expense projects related to packaging equipment.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date technical knowledge of packaging systems and processes.
  • Promote a safe work environment and enforce plant safety, quality, and SQF policies.
  • Foster positive employee relations, applying HR practices to support a motivated, effective workforce.
