About The Position

THE BIG PICTURE The Packaging Lead reports to Packaging Manager and is responsible for advanced operational functions, technical expertise, and guiding team members. This role includes helping oversee packaging operations, performing advanced troubleshooting, supporting process improvements, and ensuring the overall efficiency and organization of the packaging facility. THE EVERYDAY VIEW Ability to perform complete operation of all packaging machinery, including but not limited to: preparations, continuous operation, regular maintenance, troubleshooting, emergency repairs, and daily clean-up and shut-down. Provide guidance and training to packaging personnel in daily operations. Report progress, challenges, and concerns to supervisor in a timely and professional manner. Display a positive attitude and logical approach to assigned tasks and unexpected challenges. Maintain flexibility with scheduling in regards to production needs. Adherence to and development of SOP’s, ensuring the final product meets all specifications. Display a working knowledge of mechanical and automated equipment, including ability to contact and communicate with staff and/or technicians to effectively address issues. Adherence to Maui Brewing safety guidelines and the ability to recognize and report potential issues. Ability to perform packaging related QA tasks and understand their relation to product quality. Display an understanding of the brewing process with focus on important factors in packaged beer. Maintain records and inventories associated with packaged products Display awareness for all brewery operations with consideration to changing priorities. Display a sense of responsibility through assistance of all packaging employees in ensuring completion of departmental duties.

Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of application
  • Must have minimum 5 years of experience as a packaging operator or similar position
  • Able to pass a post-offer, pre-employment reference, and background check
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a love for meeting and interacting with people
  • Thorough attention to detail and desire to take initiative
  • Must adhere to company’s policies and procedures
  • Ability to work any shift (mornings, afternoons, evenings) on a rotational schedule with occasional weekend duties
  • Able to stand, walk, and be on your feet for prolonged periods
  • Able to read and follow written instructions
  • Able to regularly twist, turn, kneel, climb, stoop, bend, crawl, lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 55 pounds using appropriate techniques and tools
  • Able to safely navigate the tasting room and snack bar areas, including crowded spaces
  • Able to maneuver packages of any weight above 75 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance
  • Able to move 165-pounds, using appropriate techniques and tools
  • Able to work in a factory/production environment which may be loud, slick, humid, cold, and hot
  • Able to work in indoor and outdoor environments with moderate noise and occasionally slippery floors
  • Able to comply with and enforce all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards
