As a Packaging Engineering Trainee, you will design, test, and implement packaging designs that are an integral part of the organization’s product development process. You will also review and improve existing packaging designs in accordance with company initiatives and other specifications. How You Will Make Contributions That Matter.. Assist others in researching and evaluating packaging project recommendations to determine feasibility and use cost-benefit analysis to calculate & analyze the expected ROI. Participate in cross-functional teams to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, and complete packaging projects in support of company’s strategies and priorities. Assist to identify, develop, and validate new packaging components that support existing and future category initiatives. Support operations in troubleshooting packaging quality issues and optimizing productivity. Design test plans, coordinate external resources, and lead trials to qualify new packaging material specifications. Support project engineering in the installation of new packaging equipment by validating packaging material designs and assisting in equipment qualification & start-up. Support sales in the preparation of customer bids, design of new product packaging, and investigation of complaints. Complete other packaging work and related projects as necessary. Communicate effectively with internal teams to ensure that project designs and layouts are satisfactory, and timelines are met.

Requirements

  • Are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Packaging, Food Science, Engineering, or a related field or have equivalent job experience.
  • Are willing to travel approximately 30% of the time.
  • Are self-motivated, able to multi-task, can work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Have the ability to work scheduled hours and required overtime as needed.
  • Display traits of reliability, honesty, respect, attention to detail, and punctuality.
  • Can communicate effectively and efficiently.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and positively represents and promotes Saputo at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • Have previous internship and/or working experience (preferred).
  • Have exposure in TOPS or similar software (preferred).
  • Have knowledge of fluids, dairy chemistry, and thermal processes (preferred).
