Job Role and Responsibility: AMD, Inc., is hiring Packaging Engineer to Research, design, develop, and/or test electronic components and systems for semiconductor and related device manufacturing, employing knowledge of electronic theory. Design electronic circuits and components and review packaging materials for use in high performance integrated circuitry. Perform definition, design, verification, review, and/or documentation for ASIC development. Determine architecture design, logic design, and/or system simulation. Create and analyze thermal models to assess IC package thermal performance. Define module interfaces/formats for simulation. Design experiments for modeling validation. Contribute to the development of multidimensional designs involving the layout of complex integrated circuits. Perform modeling automation using scripting languages like Python, Matlab, etc. Summarize analysis and communicate through presentations to AMD, suppliers, and customers. Evaluate all aspects of the process flow from high-level designs to synthesis, place and route, and timing and power use. Work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. Under limited supervision, exercise judgment within defined company procedures and practices to select methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Utilize knowledge of computers and electronics, including circuit boards, processors, chips, and electronic equipment, as well as knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles. Apply knowledge of engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of various company proprietary products. Multiple openings. Requirements

  • Degree required
  • Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Information Management, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Specific skills required: The following skills are required:
  • Position requires experience in each of the following:
  • Performing yield reporting and analysis
  • Performing modeling automation using scripting language Python or Matlab
  • Product development cycle from idea generation and design to testing, manufacturing, and product launch
  • Unix or Linux environments
  • Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and data structures.
  • Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, or internship experience.
