This role reports into our Macedon, New York manufacturing plant. The Packaging Engineer is responsible for BRF’s packaging design, development, and flawless execution. They drive technology advancements to support growth and cost optimization. Provide strategic direction on emerging packaging technologies and partners cross-functionally to deliver innovative, scalable solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science and A minimum of three (3) or more years’ related experience in consumer packaging design and development experience as well cost-optimized packaging within the CPG, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic industries.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of packaging materials, equipment, and processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven ability to innovate and deliver results.
  • Global mindset with consumer focus.
  • Ability to apply scientific principles independently and facilitate ideation workshops.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, and packaging palletization programs; CAPE or Tops.
  • Previous SAP knowledge is preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Data analytics or statistics experience, including use of tools such Minitab, is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead front-end innovation and renovation of packaging to meet customer needs.
  • Develop and implement new packaging designs, processes, and platforms.
  • Identify and manage strategic packaging technology suppliers and partnerships.
  • Conduct packaging trials and provide technical expertise for plant operations.
  • Translate business needs into actionable plans, anticipating risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Support cross-functional teams to integrate packaging innovation into product platforms.
  • Prepare technical analyses, cost estimates, and recommendations.
  • Drive scale-up of packaging innovations and cost optimization initiatives.
  • Maintain and update packaging specifications with attention to detail.
  • Average of 25% travel on an annualized basis to all of our plants (NY, NJ, CA). Frequency and duration is project driven.
