About The Position

Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. The Packaging Process Engineering team in Pendleton, South Carolina (AMISC) is responsible for supporting manufacturing, assembly, and packaging operations at AMISC. We are searching for a co-op pursuing a Packaging Engineering degree to support the Packaging Process Engineering team at AMISC. The successful candidate will assist in process development activities such as fixture development, experimental design, equipment validation execution and documentation with guidance from the engineering staff. They may also provide support in research, prototyping, and implementation of continuous improvement projects. The individual will perform various validation test methods (Tensile, Leak Decay, Burst, Visual, Dye Penetration) and will be detail oriented in the execution and documentation of these test methods. The individual will also work within the requirements of their tasks to deliver results and communicate issues in a timely and accurate manner. Arthrex is actively seeking a Packaging Engineering Co-op for the Fall semester, running July 2026 - December 2026. This is a temporary position that will be located at our manufacturing facility in Pendleton, South Carolina.

Requirements

  • Progress towards a college degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical or Packaging Engineering required, or a recent graduate. (Recent graduates must be within six months of their graduation date to qualify.)
  • Basic to intermediate computer skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Minitab preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, execute, and document packaging validations (i.e. sample preparation with production, draft protocols & reports)
  • Responsible for test equipment operation, testing and analysis (i.e. lab test method execution: instron, burst, and dye penetration).
  • Determine types of tests to be performed to adequately evaluate packaging integrity, performance, and physical characteristics.
  • Assist current Engineering staff in their daily activities.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements for the packaging process and testing activities (complete one Continuous Improvement project).
  • Participate with team for assigned projects; analyze package performance and assist in providing recommendations for packaging improvements.
  • Perform and review testing and documentation for various product packaging configurations and packaging materials.
  • Works within the requirements of their projects to meet goals and objectives in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide support of programs, policies, and procedures.
