The opportunity to improve health on a global scale stands before us. Meet the team: We are seeking a Packaging Medical Device Engineer II to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will have experience in designing and developing systems that ensure the robust hermetic sealing and/or sterility, safety, and integrity of high volume packaging products medical devices. This role requires an understanding of a complete medical device packaging system that includes the hermetic seal and/or sterile barrier and sub-level systems, such as the protective packaging to maintain the safety and integrity of our cutting-edge medical device products while ensuring regulatory compliance. This role requires an understanding of the interaction of sub-level primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging systems to ensure that the full system remains hermetically sealed/sterile and intact until it reaches the end user, while also meeting regulatory requirements and industry standards. Requirements

  • You have proficiency in development and characterization of heat-sealing sealant layers.
  • You have an understanding of various material properties and their applications (e.g., polymers, compostable materials, barrier materials, and sealants).
  • You have experience in designing and developing systems that preserve product functionality during transportation, storage and handling.
  • You have experience working towards high volume scalability and automation technologies, taking packaging design from an early prototype stage to high volume commercial solutions.
  • You have hands-on experience with CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, ArtiosCAD, CAPE, Adobe Illustrator).
  • You have proficiency in generating engineering drawings and design specifications.
  • You emphasize a meticulous approach to problem solving, and instinctively want to dig deeper on tough problems
  • You have the ability to adapt to changing project requirements and pivot as needed, while maintaining a forward-looking approach to the overall project needs
  • You possess the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, emphasizing strong verbal and written communication skills
  • You foster a sense of accountability and urgency in the team for reaching goals and meeting project deadlines
  • You demonstrate the ability to work collaborate effectively both in a cross-functional team setting and with external vendors.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 2-5 years related experience or Master’s degree and 0-2 years’ equivalent experience.

  • You have an understanding of industry standards, such as ASTM D4169, ISO 11607, ISO TS 16775, ISO 13485 and ISTA test standards.
  • You have a deep understanding of various material properties and their applications (e.g., polymers, compostable materials, barrier materials, and sealants).
