Requirements

  • Previous experience in a parts, inventory, or warehouse setting is essential, with a strong preference for experience in a supervisory role within manufacturing or a related industry.
  • Technical skills: Proficiency with inventory management software (e.g., SAP, CMMS) and general office software like Microsoft Excel and Word is often required.
  • Leadership: Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to supervise a team and coordinate with other departments.
  • Analytical skills: Ability to analyze inventory data, forecast needs, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Organization: Excellent organizational skills to maintain a clean, secure, and efficient parts room.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory management: Manage stock levels, conduct cycle counts, and ensure parts are correctly stored, staged, and tracked in the system.
  • Procurement: Write and place purchase orders, follow up with suppliers, and work to obtain competitive pricing.
  • Staff supervision: Train, coach, and supervise parts room clerks and other personnel, ensuring they follow procedures and meet productivity goals.
  • Coordination: Work with other departments, such as maintenance, production, and shipping, to ensure parts are available when needed and to coordinate storage.
  • Process improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in inventory management, logistics, and overall department efficiency.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports on inventory levels and department activities.
  • Safety and security: Ensure the parts room is secure when unattended and that all safety regulations are followed.
