About The Position

Greets the public, patients, and families. Obtains and enters demographic and financial information for all patient types. Collects copays and deductibles from patients or authorized representatives. Handles all customer service issues in a friendly manner. Accurately listens and responds appropriately to address and resolve issues at hand. Ensures Patient Access staff follows all policies and procedures. Must ensure all paperwork is checked for accuracy. Coaches Patient Access Reps on minor errors. Must continually enhance knowledge regarding processes in order to train new hires and existing employees. Should show initiative in process improvement. Must be flexible to work as scheduled or needed, which may include weekends, holidays, and being on call.

Requirements

  • High School/GED required. Post-secondary education preferred.
  • Two to three years of customer service/public relations/leadership experience preferred.
  • Two to three years computer experience preferred.
  • Previous medical record or billing experience strongly preferred.
  • Will consider one year of previous work experience in other fields.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills required.
  • Must possess ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude.
  • Must demonstrate effective time management skills.
  • Must demonstrate efficiency and organizational skills with the ability to multitask.
  • Ability to compile and analyze data preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite strongly preferred.
  • Should possess a drive to be TEAM ORIENTED.
  • Should possess strong ETHICS with a clear understanding of right and wrong which guides actions.
  • Should possess SELF DISCIPLINE to actively impose structure onto Registration personnel.
  • Should possess the disposition of RESPONSIBILITY, assuming personal accountability for work and actions.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately enters data into the Registration System, to include and not limited to medical, demographic, and insurance data.
  • Registration speed should average 12 minutes or less per patient
  • Perform registration functions with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Must collect required patient liability as determined by the patient’s insurance carrier and/or patient’s SP liability.
  • Post transactions and complete a deposit accurately.
  • Required to attend departmental staff meetings.
  • Successfully complete all required tests and quizzes in NetLearning.
  • Responsible for managing personal time and attendance, notifying supervisor immediately of issues.
  • Responsible for knowledge of policies and procedures pertinent to their work areas.
  • Must utilize AIDET and HEATT to problem solve with patients, visitors, co-workers and staff from other departments.
  • Responsible for ensuring and maintaining inventory.
  • Responsible for training/cross training existing and new employees.
  • Completes required department reports as needed.
  • Reviews financial charts of staff to ensure data is accurate.
  • Ensures staff follows hospital/department policies and procedures.
  • Give feedback for annual competencies and evaluations of staff.
  • Monitors Registration personnel to ensure adequate staff coverage.
  • Ability to assume some leadership responsibilities in the absence of supervisor or director.
