About The Position

Under the direct general supervision of the Custodial Supervisor, this professional is responsible for the cleaning of all City of Elgin buildings. This is medium work requiring the exertion of 80 pounds of force occasionally, up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work requires climbing, stooping, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, and grasping; visual acuity is required for reading, visual inspection involving small defects and/or small parts, use of measuring devices, operation of machines, and operation of motor vehicles or equipment. Work is subject to inside and outside environmental conditions, noise, hazards, atmospheric conditions, and oils. Primary responsibilities include emptying office trash & recycling cans, cleaning and restocking the washrooms, dust and wet mop floors, vacuum carpets, clean walls and windows, other general housekeeping assignments.

Requirements

Ability to clean offices, bathrooms and other areas in all City of Elgin's buildings
Efficient, organized and detailed in cleaning duties
Ability to follow instructions
Willingness and ability to attend and complete job-related training
Be a responsible steward of City supplies, tools, and equipment
Able to work independently or as part of a team
Able to get along well with others
Regular in person attendance which is an essential function of the position
Valid Illinois driver's license is required
Capable of receiving and understanding written and verbal instructions in English
Applicants must pass a background investigation, criminal history record check and drug test.
