About you and this role: The P&ID Drafting Design Focal Point provides a variety of routine to moderately difficult Piping Design & Process Graphic Design assignments which require knowledge and skill in basic drafting techniques and procedures under minimum supervision. Knowledge in other discipline areas of engineering drafting design is required. This role requires hands‑on experience with drafting and design tools to support the full lifecycle of engineering deliverables, including process flowsheets, P&IDs, plans, and detailed drawings. This role is within a Global support team and the individual is expected to communicate clearly and professionally across all geographic regions with diverse cultures.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree AND 3 years of relevant work experience OR 8 years of experience in piping engineering design required.
  • Must be skilled in Smart Plant P&ID, with strong problem‑solving capabilities related to both MicroStation and SmartPlant P&ID.
  • Must possess fundamental knowledge of P&IDs and be adept at initial layout and drafting of intelligent P&IDs and PFDs, preferably within a petrochemical or related environment.
  • Must be able to produce accurate, multi‑discipline drawings that conform to company quality standards and meet scheduled deadlines.
  • Must have strong MS Office and design engineering computer skills, with comfort using database systems.
  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred candidate will have at least 8 years of experience in a 3D design environment or with intelligent process graphics.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate P&ID Drafting Requests: Work directly with project engineers and process engineering to understand, clarify, and prioritize drafting requests.
  • Manage Workload, Resources & Scheduling: Assess requirements, manage timing, and allocate resources—including coordination with CEC (Central Engineering Center).
  • Conducts quality control reviews: Perform or oversee quality reviews of P&ID deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance with standards. Ensure consistent use of SmartPlant P&ID and proper interpretation of process engineering markups.
  • Subject Matter Expertise in SmartPlant P&ID: Serve as an SME for the SmartPlant P&ID tool, guiding drafters on correct workflows and troubleshooting issues.
  • Support Specialized Drafting Tasks: Provide drafting expertise for: Special 2D piping sketches, inspection isometrics and converting legacy or MicroStation/AutoCAD P&IDs into SmartPlant P&ID.
  • Responsible for P&ID drafting excellence by driving quality, work process consistency across CE, consistency in deliverables, leveraging lessons learned, and ensuring leader engagement and reviews.
