This Owner Operator position is based out of the St. Gabriel, LA terminal, where drivers are considered business owners and critical partners. The role involves hauling chemical and petroleum products using tank trailers in adherence to DOT regulations. Drivers can choose between Regional (3-5 days out) or Over-the-Road (7+ days out) options. Altom Transport emphasizes safety through mandatory onboarding, training, quarterly safety meetings, emergency response compliance, DOT and hazmat awareness testing, safety technology, incident investigation programs, RCMS/HSE standards, and PPE replacement guidelines. The company seeks long-term partnerships with experienced drivers, offering top-tier support and high revenue potential.

Requirements

Late-model equipment that meets Altom’s inspection standards
Valid CDL Class A License
Tanker Endorsement (N) – Required
At least 23 years of age
Minimum 1 year of verifiable tanker experience
Clean MVR and strong safety record
No DUI/OWI within the last 5 years
Cannot be prohibited in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
No at-fault/preventable fatal or rollover accident in the last 5 years
No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
No more than 2 CSA moving violations in the last 18 months
No falsification on the driver application
Must hold a current X endorsement
Able to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check
Dependable, safety-minded, and capable of working independently
Willing to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations if needed

Nice To Haves

Hazmat Endorsement (H) – Preferred (must obtain within 90 days of hire; assistance available)
TWIC Card – Preferred (or must obtain after hire)
2 years within the last 5 years verifiable tanker experience (under safety vetting)

Responsibilities

Safe Transportation: Hauling chemical and petroleum products using tank trailers while adhering to DOT regulations.
Equipment Maintenance: Ensuring your truck meets all inspection standards and remains in top condition for long-haul success.
Loading & Unloading: Following proper procedures for ISO/Flexi-Bag or Tanker operations at loading and delivery points.
Compliance & Documentation: Maintaining accurate logs, submitting necessary paperwork, and adhering to Hazmat regulations.
Customer Service: Representing Altom Transport professionally at all customer locations.
Business Management: Managing fuel purchases, trip planning, and scheduling to maximize revenue.
Maintain a steady workload by meeting mileage or hour requirements to contribute to the overall success of the operation.
Willingness to be available 24/7 when needed.
