About The Position

Altom Transport is a family-owned company built on trust, safety, and service, specializing in the safe and efficient transport of bulk liquid chemicals and petroleum products across 49 states and Canada. The company operates with a fleet of modern stainless steel and aluminum tank trailers and fosters a team-first culture. This Owner Operator position is based out of the Monroe, MI terminal. As an Owner Operator, drivers are considered business owners and critical partners in the operation. Altom Transport offers two driving options: Regional Driver, allowing drivers to be home every few days (3–5 days out at a time), and Over-the-Road (OTR) Driver, for those who prefer long-haul travel and are gone for 7+ days at a time to maximize mileage and income.

Requirements

  • Late-model equipment that meets Altom’s inspection standards
  • Valid CDL Class A License
  • Tanker Endorsement (N) – Required
  • At least 23 years of age
  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable tanker experience
  • Clean MVR and strong safety record
  • No DUI/OWI within the last 5 years
  • Cannot be prohibited in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
  • No at-fault/preventable fatal or rollover accident in the last 5 years
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
  • No more than 2 CSA moving violations in the last 18 months
  • No falsification on the driver application
  • Must hold a current X endorsement
  • Able to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check
  • Dependable, safety-minded, and capable of working independently
  • Willing to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations if needed

Nice To Haves

  • Hazmat Endorsement (H) – Preferred (must obtain within 90 days of hire; assistance available)
  • TWIC Card – Preferred (or must obtain after hire)
  • 2 years within the last 5 years preferred under safety vetting (for tanker experience)

Responsibilities

  • Hauling chemical and petroleum products using tank trailers while adhering to DOT regulations
  • Ensuring your truck meets all inspection standards and remains in top condition for long-haul success
  • Following proper procedures for ISO/Flexi-Bag or Tanker operations at loading and delivery points
  • Maintaining accurate logs, submitting necessary paperwork, and adhering to Hazmat regulations
  • Representing Altom Transport professionally at all customer locations
  • Managing fuel purchases, trip planning, and scheduling to maximize revenue
  • Maintain a steady workload by meeting mileage or hour requirements to contribute to the overall success of the operation
  • Willingness to be available 24/7 when needed
