Requirements

  • High School or GED required
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with trauma informed practices required.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • At least 21-years of Age

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s Degree, preferred
  • Experience working with domestic violence, homeless or economically disadvantaged population, preferred.
  • Ability to drive passenger van, preferred
  • Verbally bilingual in Spanish, preferred
  • Valid Driver’s License with reliable transportation, preferred
  • Current Auto Liability Insurance, preferred
  • 39 Month Motor Vehicle Record, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Role model appropriate behaviors to callers on the crisis calls and clients in the shelter, at all times, utilizing trauma informed principles and practices.
  • Answer crisis calls, properly process, and document calls according to procedure.
  • Provide crisis intervention, domestic violence information, and resources and referral services to callers/clients at the shelter.
  • Communicate with hotel/motel and/or transportation agencies for client placement in overflow program and convey information appropriately to internal programs.
  • Perform screenings, lethality assessments, and basic needs assessments for potential clients according to procedure. Assist with the introduction of program and facility orientation to incoming clients. Assist with client intake/exit paperwork as needed.
  • Provide supportive services to clients in shelter and assist case managers with client needs. Establish/maintain client files, documentation and requesting paperwork; filing all documentation in a timely, accurate and thorough manner.
  • Be responsible for issues relating to admission and discharge, in conjunction with the programs definition and policies as relevant to program/client needs.
  • Access community resources to support the coordination of services for clients.
  • Assist with maintaining program appearance through cleaning and organizing internal/external offices, property, equipment, and agency vehicles. Report repairs and maintenance needs as appropriate.
  • Stock and organize supply closet. Assist with inventory of supplies, including but not limited to clothing, hygiene items, food, and office supplies.
  • Prepare and/or assist with meal/snack preparation, serving, and cleanup. Be able to lift a minimum of 30lbs.
  • Monitor security of the property through hourly unit and grounds checks. Stay awake and alert during overnight shift.
  • Review all communication sources (emails, shift reports, logs, staff meeting notes, etc.) to stay up to date on milieu, structure, changes, events, and client/program needs.
