RAHI is a unique six-week college prep program at UAF that helps rural and Alaska Native students explore higher education, earn college credits, and participate in enriching activities. As an Overnight Safety Coordinator, you’ll play a key role in creating a safe, welcoming dorm environment for students living on campus. Your responsibilities will include ensuring the safety of both students and staff, conducting regular dorm patrols, and responding to emergencies as needed. You’ll also have the chance to provide mentorship, support student community-building, and help students navigate any challenges they may face. If you're looking for a role that blends responsibility with the opportunity to positively influence students' futures, this is the position for you! To thrive as an Overnight Safety Coordinator, you should be a night owl with a strong sense of responsibility and the ability to balance safety with a supportive, community-driven approach. An understanding of safety protocols and the ability to effectively communicate and enforce them is essential, along with the capacity to stay calm and composed during emergencies. You should be proactive in mentoring students, resolving conflicts, and fostering a positive living environment. A commitment to student success—both academically and personally—is key, as is the ability to provide reliable transportation when needed. This position is ideal for someone ready to step into a leadership role and make a meaningful difference in the lives of rural and Alaska Native students. The Overnight Safety Coordinator works under the general direction of the RAHI Dorm Director and is required to be available on-call. This is a night shift position. Working hours vary between 9pm-10am.
