About The Position

You’ll be working in one of our three inpatient hospice care centers and will be responsible for providing care for an average of 6-7 patients, or as assigned. Point of Care charting is completed on desktop in the nursing station. We provide direct patient care such as bathing, peri-care, dressing, mouth care, assisting to toilet, incontinent care, turning in bed, preparing and assisting with meals. You’ll be part of an interdisciplinary team consisting of a Physician or Nurse Practitioner, RN, social worker, and chaplain. You’ll be responsible for working closely with the RN and your interdisciplinary team on your shift to communicate patient status changes and patient or family concerns. Train family on how to provide personal care within your scope of practice. Preparing and turning room over for new patients. You’ll provide post-mortem care for deceased patients (washing, grooming, dressing, etc.) Restocking supplies and rooms Comfort measures over pushing someone to get better make sure that they are comfortable

Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of CNA course. Must attend 12 hours of in-service training supervised by a Registered Nurse on a rolling 12-month basis. Has not had a lapse of 24 consecutive months where the aide has not provided services for compensation.
  • Licensure / Certifications: Current certification with State Board of Nursing, or current registration with Department of Facilities Service in the State of North Carolina.
  • Experience: No prior experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years experience with hospice, home health or oncology preferred.
