About The Position

The University of Notre Dame Operations, Events, and Safety (UOES) division is currently hiring a full-time Overnight Custodian at The Morris Inn in our campus Hospitality department . The UOES division oversees the University's event management, hospitality, and customer service functions, while also supporting student life, academic initiatives, research activities, and annual milestone celebrations. Custodian The Custodian at the Morris Inn is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment throughout the hotel’s common areas. This role involves both routine custodial duties and support for events hosted at the facility. Ideal candidates will be dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to providing excellent service in a hospitality setting.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift, move, and carry items up to 50 lbs.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills with a positive, professional attitude.
  • Capable of working independently and staying productive with minimal supervision.
  • Dependable and punctual, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and game days.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and chemical safety is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Must be available to work 11PM - 7AM shift
  • Perform daily cleaning duties, including vacuuming carpeted areas, sweeping, dusting, mopping hard surface floors, and restroom maintenance.
  • Clean and maintain mirrors, ledges, window sills, interior glass, stainless steel, and other surfaces.
  • Perform thorough cleaning of the hotel restaurant (Rohr’s)
  • Spot clean walls, doors, vents, light fixtures, water fountains, chalk/marking boards, and other surfaces in all common areas.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of interior and exterior entryways, exits, and stairwells.
  • Remove trash and recycling and ensure proper disposal procedures are followed.
  • Support event operations by maintaining assigned areas before, during, and after events.
  • Respond promptly to real-time needs and special cleaning requests.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet daily and event-specific cleaning goals.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
