About The Position

The OCS Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and construction management of the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) for the Calgary Green Line LRT project. Reporting into the Green Line construction management organization, this role is responsible for ensuring that OCS infrastructure is delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with project requirements, applicable standards, and operational performance criteria. The position provides technical and managerial leadership for all aspects of OCS delivery, including foundations, poles, portals, contact and messenger wire, cantilever systems, neutral sections, special trackwork interfaces, and coordination with traction power substations, civil works, and utilities. The OCS construction Manager will oversee contractor performance, safety, quality, and schedule, while managing complex field interfaces in constrained urban and active railway environments. Working closely with the Traction Power Manager, systems integration, safety and systems assurance, operations representatives, and other discipline managers, the OCS construction Manager will resolve construction issues, manage technical and safety risks, and support successful testing, commissioning, and handover of the OCS into revenue service. Your role Lead all construction-phase activities for the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) across the Calgary Green Line program, ensuring safe, high‑quality, and technically compliant delivery. Manage OCS contractors, overseeing safety, quality, schedule performance, and adherence to project requirements. Oversee installation of OCS foundations, poles/portals, wiring, bonding/grounding, neutral sections, and special assemblies. Coordinate interfaces with traction power, return current systems, grounding and bonding, systems integration, and adjacent civil/structural works. Review and resolve OCS‑related RFIs, NCRs, design changes, and field technical issues. Lead readiness and execution for wire stringing, tensioning, sectioning, testing, and energization in collaboration with Traction Power. Provide progress reporting, risk input, and support for safety, systems assurance, and O&M considerations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience in rail transit or electrified railway projects, with demonstrated experience in OCS construction.
  • Significant experience in construction management, owner’s engineer, or contractor oversight roles on large infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience managing OCS installation in urban or constrained environments, including work staging, rail access, and safety controls.
  • Experience supporting OCS testing, commissioning, and energization activities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of OCS design and construction, including wiring systems, sectioning concepts, dynamic envelope requirements, and grounding and bonding.
  • Strong leadership, coordination, and field problem‑solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Canada or eligibility for registration in Alberta.
  • Experience on LRT, metro, or electrified commuter rail systems in North America.
