Position Summary: The Overhead Groundman performs tasks involving physical labor at construction projects. This position may operate a variety of hand and power tools and may clean and prepare sites, dig trenches, and remove waste materials.

Requirements

High school diploma (Preferred)
Knowledge of Overhead & underground installation techniques and standards.
Must have valid driver's license and be willing and able to obtain Class A CDL License in 6 months (Required).
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials, tools, and equipment (up to 50 pounds or more).
Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
Endurance to perform physical tasks throughout the workday, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
Agility and flexibility to navigate construction sites and access work areas, including climbing ladders and scaffolding.
Must be able to position one-self to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, and tunnels.
Must be able to wear personal protective gear most of the day.
Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
Must have manual dexterity, a good sense of balance, and excellent hand-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

Ensure all project work is compliant with installation standards and is being performed safely and correctly
Promote and monitor the safety of team members
Prepare sites to ensure maximum optimization of construction work procedures
Clean debris, trash and hazardous materials from construction sites
Dig trenches as instructed
Assist in installing drill tooling and pipe
Place traffic signs to warn traffic of construction in process
Clean and maintain construction equipment appropriately
Load and unload equipment from trucks
Fill potholes to facilitate the construction process
Ensure that all work is being done in compliance with the company's protocols
Train apprentices and new hires in construction labor work
Use hand tools to cut and shape material as per instructions
