About The Position

The Junior OSP Engineer will support the Engineering team by performing QA/QC reviews of outside plant (OSP) fiber designs returned by engineering vendors. This role is a combination of field and office work and focuses exclusively on underground fiber construction. The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of OSP fiber design, municipal requirements, and field verification practices, with strong attention to detail and an eagerness to grow within a rapidly expanding network environment.

Requirements

  • Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Engineering
  • Fiber Optic Networks
  • Underground Fiber Design & Construction
  • Experience supporting underground OSP design and engineering
  • Strong understanding of local municipality rules, regulations, and permitting guidelines
  • Ability to review, interpret, and QA/QC engineered fiber drawings
  • Exposure to OSP design and engineering principles
  • Experience working with or managing engineering vendors
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively in an office environment

Nice To Haves

  • GIS platforms (ArcGIS or similar)
  • Vendor coordination or management experience
  • Prior exposure to fiber design, drafting, or engineering workflows
  • GIS experience is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Engineering team with QA/QC reviews of OSP fiber designs returned by external engineering vendors
  • Conduct field walks and site verification, driving to job sites to validate design accuracy and constructability
  • Ensure designs comply with municipal standards, codes, and right-of-way requirements
  • Support underground-only fiber construction projects from a design verification perspective
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external vendors to identify and resolve discrepancies
  • Utilize engineering drawings, maps, and GIS tools to validate routes, handholes, and conduit paths
  • Track and communicate design issues, corrections, and approvals in a clear and timely manner
