About The Position

About the Role: The OSP Engineer (OSPE) is responsible for supporting the end-to-end deployment of fiber optic infrastructure, from initial site acquisition and project coordination through design, engineering, and construction support. This role combines technical outside plant (OSP) design with project coordination, contractor management, and customer interaction to ensure efficient, compliant, and high-quality network delivery. This position can be filled in Panama City or Tallahassee, FL. What You’ll Do?

Requirements

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong understanding of OSP design, construction practices, and right-of-way considerations
  • Knowledge of applicable codes, regulations, and permitting processes
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Experience with project tracking tools and data entry systems (e.g., Salesforce, GIS, or similar)
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage contractor relationships
  • Customer-focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to adapt quickly and handle shifting priorities
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in telecommunications, engineering, construction management, or related field
  • General field experience in telecom or construction environments

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in OSP engineering, site acquisition, or fiber deployment projects preferred
  • Familiarity with network design, construction scheduling, and contractor management

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed field surveys and collect right-of-way data for fiber design and construction
  • Develop and implement fiber network designs that meet customer needs, regulatory requirements and company standards
  • Coordinate site acquisition activities including site walks, inspections, and customer interactions
  • Support project lifecycle activities including scope development, scheduling, cost tracking, and closeout documentation
  • Update construction trackers and perform data entry in systems such as Salesforce or other project tools
  • Coordinate with internal teams (Engineering, Operations, and Sales) and external stakeholders (customers, municipalities, and contractors)
  • Manage and oversee contractors, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, and within scope
  • Communicate with permitting agencies including FDOT and local municipalities to design, coordinate, and manage relocation projects
  • Provide technical guidance and support to field teams and cross-functional partners
  • Assist in resolving field issues, troubleshooting construction challenges, and adapting designs as needed
  • Participate in customer meetings, site surveys, and post-construction inspections to ensure satisfaction
  • Support estimating, material planning, and purchase order processes as needed
  • Serve as a liaison between technical engineering and project execution teams
