About The Position

Venture Dynamics is seeking experienced Outside Machinists for ongoing ship repair projects. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience working with propulsion systems, pumps, valves, turbines, and other mechanical components aboard Navy and commercial vessels. Outside Machinists are responsible for installing, repairing, and testing mechanical equipment both onboard ships and in shop environments.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as an Outside Machinist in ship repair or heavy industrial maintenance.
• Strong understanding of marine mechanical systems and precision alignment
• Must be DBIDS eligible or able to obtain base access.
• Must pass a drug test and background check
• Own tools and PPE required.

Responsibilities

• Install, align, and repair pumps, motors, valves, bearings, gearboxes, and propulsion systems
• Perform precise shaft and coupling alignments using dial indicators, feeler gauges, and other precision tools.
• Dismantle, inspect, repair, and reassemble shipboard mechanical equipment.
• Conduct operational and hydrostatic testing of equipment after installation or repair.
• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Work safely in confined spaces and follow all shipyard safety protocols.
• Collaborate with other trades to complete ship repairs and overhauls on schedule.
