Outside machinists are responsible for installing, grooming, testing, and repairing a ship's major mechanical components and systems and work can occur on commercial or naval ships in various stages of new construction, overhaul, or repair. Ship components that are part of this work can include anything from steam turbines, reduction gears, propellers, reactor components, catapults and weapons systems, periscopes to laundry, food service, or refrigeration equipment. Outside machinists operate a wide variety of tools and machinery ranging from wrenches and screwdrivers to complex and sophisticated equipment such as saws, drill presses, optical equipment, mills, portable machines, boring equipment, precision grinders, and lathes. If you have experience related to the following, you might be a good fit for this job. Experience in mechanical concepts (e.g., Automotive Repair, Plant Maintenance, Machinery Installation/Repair) or relevant tools or techniques.Experience with HVAC systems or parts
