The Wisconsin State Laboratory of Hygiene (WSLH) serves as the public, environmental and occupational health laboratory for the State of Wisconsin. As part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, the WSLH is committed to exploring new ideas which benefit the state, the nation and the world. This is an outreach specialist position and will be working at the front desk of the WSLH at 2601 Agriculture Drive in Madison. We invite you to become a part of this leading public health laboratory’s Environmental Health Division as an outreach specialist. This position provides a wide variety of program support for the Environmental Health Division at the WSLH's Agriculture Drive location in Madison. Primary responsibilities include: -Providing a broad range of information to customers in person, on the phone, or online regarding water sampling and testing. -Placing and filling sampling kit orders. -Looking up test results for customers. -Communicating information about results based upon the rules and polices mandated by the Federal Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (WI DNR). -Other duties such as: Support environmental public health emergency response with Department of Health and collaborate with county health on the WellTAP program. Work with the WI DNR Surface Water Grant Program, facilitating lab testing. Assist in welcoming and guiding guests to the WSLH. Provide administrative and laboratory information systems (LIMS) support for the department. Assist with development and maintenance of web content. Provide constructive feedback for the purpose of continuous improvement in a manner that is supportive of the State Laboratory of Hygiene and its mission. Use effective team skills to contribute to the efficient operation of the work unit. Present ideas, carry out assignments, and provide information as required. Participate in continuous learning through professional development activities. Work hours are weekdays 7:45 am - 4:30 pm This position is located off campus at 2601 Agriculture Drive in Madison.
