About The Position

Outreach Field Lead, Energy Efficiency (Field-Based) Utilities Programs and Services Location: New Jersey (Remote – Home Office with Statewide Travel) Are you ready to make a difference? As an Outreach Field Lead you will support commercial/industrial (C&I) and multifamily utility programs in New Jersey, reporting to and working closely with the Portfolio Outreach Manager. This role combines field team management responsibilities with direct customer engagement to ensure program success. In this role, you will lean on your experience, professional network, and best practices in account management to guide and support the Outreach Account Management team. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of outreach tactics and proven methods to reach energy savings goals. In this “player-coach” role, you will be responsible for building a pipeline through strategic relationships with Commercial and Multifamily stakeholders, identifying and pre-qualifying eligible projects, support program events, and act as a liaison between customer and the program, while providing management and oversight for the outreach account management team. The candidate will develop clearly defined tasks, strategies, goals, and measurable metrics for Outreach Account Managers to ensure they execute on the plan and deliver. The Outreach Field Lead will collaborate with the Portfolio Outreach Manager to design, implement, and track effective outreach initiatives. Attention to detail is paramount to accurately analyze progress and track the effectiveness of outreach tactics to meet overall program goals. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in (Business, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field)(candidates can substitute one year of relevant experience for each year of education)
  • 8+ years of professional experience, with a strong preference for backgrounds in utilities, energy efficiency, or commercial and industrial (C&I) sectors
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check
  • Must be based in New Jersey or in close proximity and willing to travel throughout the state to visit customers, interact with stakeholders, or attend events.
  • Must have a reliable vehicle for local travel. Requirements are between 20% to 75% of the time. (reimbursement for mileage provided)

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in leading outreach teams and conducting outreach to decision makers and stakeholders to identify energy efficiency project opportunities in commercial and multifamily properties.
  • Experience and knowledge of commercial energy efficiency in New Jersey.

  • Certified Energy Manager or BPI credentials

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Portfolio Outreach Manager, Program Implementation, and Outreach Account Managers) to design and execute outreach initiatives, including prospect lists and project pipelines, and track their effectiveness.
  • Develop clearly defined goals and measurable metrics for Outreach Account Managers.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach, fostering a high-performance culture within the Outreach Account Management Team.
  • Identify and cultivate potential customers through proactive outreach, cold calling, and leveraging networking opportunities.
  • Coordinate with the Program Implementation team, Portfolio Outreach Manager, and Outreach Account Managers to develop outreach initiatives, create prospect lists, and project pipelines.
  • Effectively represent the program externally by assisting with material development, presenting, educating and recruiting potential participants and stakeholders.
  • Present how available utility offerings can address specific pain points and improve operational efficiency.
  • Position yourself as a trusted advisor, helping customers navigate the complexities of the available utility programs and maximizing the value of existing offerings.
  • Drive the sales process from initial engagement through closing, ensuring a clear mutual action plan is in place at every stage.
  • Ensure CRM integrity by maintaining accurate records, monitoring team interactions, and supporting system testing and improvements.
  • Address customer concerns and objections, with a focus on closing sales and achieving revenue goals.
  • Attend trade shows, conferences, and other events to promote and represent program offerings and build relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Stay informed of industry news, updates, and trends.
  • Provide regular feedback to internal teams on market trends, customer needs, and project development opportunities.
  • Achieve assigned outreach KPIs, including project conversion rates, energy savings targets, and revenue goals.
  • Review energy audits, technical specifications, energy usage, and cost calculations for energy efficiency projects.
