Outreach Coordinator

About The Position

This role is responsible for all community outreach. With the support of the Senior Director of Operations, the Outreach Coordinator will expand Houston Humane Society’s vision and mission by engaging and educating the community about animal welfare and protecting the environment.

Requirements

Minimum one year in community outreach, public relations, or similar roles, preferably within a nonprofit setting
Knowledge of animal welfare issues, and highly motivated toward promoting animal welfare and protection
Excellent attention to detail and follow-through as demonstrated through effective project management experience
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills
Works comfortably with all domestic, wildlife, and livestock animals
Able to forecast and monitor budget expenditures
Able to effectively respond to project workflow issues
Criminal background check required
A valid Texas Driver’s license with a good driving history

Responsibilities

Community Outreach event planning, coordination, and management
Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, schools, businesses, and government agencies
Assist the Community Impact Coordinator with Camp Pawsome
Develop programs for underserved communities
Demonstrate and uphold the standards outlined in the HHS Employee Handbook and Standard Operating Procedures
Perform other duties as reasonably required or assigned.
Work with the Senior Director of Operations on: Organizational strategies, Designing and improving programs, Short-term and long-term goals for Outreach, Grant applications and fundraising initiatives
Strategically plan and supervise the implementation of HHS programs and the expansion of those programs.
Establish and maintain realistic project plans, budgets, timelines, milestones, success indicators, and tracking tools for project completion and program advancement.
Maintain regular communication with the Senior Director of Operations, providing updates on plans, ongoing activities, and results to ensure strategic alignment and transparency.
