About The Position

Lead the Outreach & Care Team, prioritizing outreach and developing VRL's presence in the local community. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Serves as part of the Lead Team and oversees the integration of Outreach/Care in a manner that supports our strategic direction. Work together with Lead Pastor, Executive Pastor of Ministries, Executive of Operations and Lead Team to set, drive, and implement the strategic vision for Valley Real Life. Assist in teaching & follow-up of The Journey, hosting/evaluating our weekend services and other various events. Connect the unconnected into Outreach/Care through assimilation strategies, attending weekly services, & follow-up on connections. Oversee Outreach/Care Pastors and Staff Meet regularly with each Outreach/Care team member for coaching, care, and camaraderie. Oversee and direct the Outreach Pastor in executing assigned ministry visions including discipling nations, Joy to the World, Church Planting, Crisis Response, Pastoral Development, and Prayer Events. Oversee and direct the Renewal Ministry Lead in executing the Renewal Ministry vision by attending and evaluating Renewal Ministry events, guiding training and development, programming, partnership with the Care Center, and maintaining a presence of Renewal Ministry volunteers in the lobby during services. Oversee and direct the Care Pastor in developing and implementing a comprehensive care strategy that includes ministering to and guiding the participants of VRL through the ABCD Discipleship Process, meeting care needs, and guiding staff in developing pastoral care in their ministry areas. Assist in aligning Life Group Leaders, Life Groups, ministries, classes, and care with VRL’s vision and processes for outreach and care. Community/Local Outreach Point Person Develop and implement an outreach strategy that identifies priority outreach types and partner organizations and build a sustainable foundation for VRL’s outreach through communication, prayer, and collaboration. This includes discerning where God is already at awork and leading VRL to join Him. Be the point-person for VRL’s Local Outreach and Care programs, including Loving Kids, Community Kindness, Helping Hands, Benevolence, School & Sports Outreach, Inviting Our Community, Hosting Events at VRL (school, sports, first responders, civic leaders, etc.) Baptism Point Person Lead and develop the baptism ministry and team, including an effective baptism follow-up process that results in next steps. Oversee weekday and weekend baptisms Develop baptismal team of volunteers Oversee special baptism events such as Easter services. Assist with Pastoral Care Officiate weddings and memorials. Respond to crisis needs (hospital calls, counseling, and benevolence). Other Duties as Assigned

Requirements

  • Solid biblical/theological convictions which are aligned with the VRL leadership.
  • A willingness to grow and adapt to the inevitable changes found in a growing church.
  • Dynamic, high-capacity leader mature in Christ-like Character, humble, teachable & relationally gifted.
  • Organized and team oriented, able to cast compelling vision. Strong communication skills are a must.
  • Minimum of 3-6 years’ experience as a leader in a similar sized church or related environment.
  • 3- 6 years previous experience making connections in the community gained through experience working in church/nonprofit environments, and experience in multi-cultural environments. It is also helpful to have experience working in environments where both discipleship and poverty alleviation/social outreach have been modeled well. It is very easy to do this wrong, i.e. trying to help but making a problem worse with misguided, misplaced efforts.
  • Communication and leadership training for this job is helpful.
  • Basic understanding of computer programs.
  • Heart for the community and world.
  • A flexible work schedule is helpful as often outreach opportunities require everything from nights/weekends to trips around the world.
  • Background check required.
  • Years of Experience: 6-8 years progressive experience
  • Education Required: Bachelor's, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Management/Supervisor Experiences: 4-6 years
  • Budget Oversight: Oversight of budget experience
