About The Position

Housing & Food Services (HFS) has an outstanding opportunity for an Outreach and Marketing Specialist (Program Support Supervisor 1 (NE S SEIU 925 Supv)) to join their team. Housing & Food Services supports over 10,000 student residents and operates 40+ dining locations on campus. With a team of over 1,200 staff and students, HFS is dedicated to enhancing student life through teamwork and excellent service. Position Purpose Serve as the primary specialist for housing outreach efforts and serve as a resource for accurate information about the Department of Housing & Food Service’s housing options. Coordinates and designs housing outreach efforts and supervises the housing tour staff.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND three years of applicable experience in marketing and outreach.
  • OR Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the housing tour program for students, parents, and campus partners including development, training, scheduling, planning, and assessment of housing tours.
  • Supervision of student employees.
  • Independently advise students, monitor, and evaluate student employee job performance.
  • Coordinate the processes designed to effectively select, orient, and train student staff; develop and lead the interview process and recommend selection of applicants.
  • Assign, schedule, and manage work of student employees.
  • Plan and implement training and in-service activities; promote opportunities for professional development for student staff
  • Oversee outreach events such as tabling and open houses including planning, implementation, and staffing.
  • Plan, organize and deliver presentations (in-person and virtual) about housing for students, parents, and campus partners.
  • Recommend and assist with development and implementation of communication strategies regarding housing options and processes.
  • Work with HFS (Housing & Food Services) Communications and Marketing to create content for presentations, including slide shows, handouts, etc.
  • Compile and analyze data on new construction and leasing trends in the U District private sector
  • Maintain, monitor, and update HFS social media pages and online discussion boards
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of presentation content and modify, as necessary.
  • Act as a liaison between HFS, Blanton Turner properties, and campus partners.
  • Devise and implement new housing outreach procedures and exercise independent judgment in interpreting and applying departmental policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Monitor program activities to ensure consistency with program goals.
  • Monitor, maintain and approve expenditures from the Marketing and Outreach budget.
  • Provide recognition for staff job performance.
  • Implement the Departmental performance management process to address performance concerns among Lead Housing Ambassadors, Housing Ambassadors, and Tour Guides
  • Serve as a resource for inquiries about: HFS (Housing & Food Services) policies and procedures regarding housing assignments and contracts.
  • Inquiries about account balances, account charges, deposits, contracts, refund status, assignments, applications, payment due date extensions requests, SDB charge lookups.
  • Serve as support for the 9-month and 12- month program coordinators during peak times of the year including, but not limited to: Room selection for returning and new students. Special group assignments for student populations such as Gender Inclusive Housing, Early Fall Start, or Early Arrival.
  • Respond to inquiries and resolve or facilitate resolution of problems or complaints regarding housing assignments, contractual obligations, or dining or Husky Card accounts
  • Create and update policy/procedure documentation.
  • Accept check payments
  • Assist with mass mailings.
  • Perform related duties as required.
