About The Position

The Outpatient Therapist provides mental health and/or substance use services to clients of the mental health center, including emergency services. Also, this person provides consultation, education and prevention services to other agencies and individuals.

Requirements

  • Maintains ethics as dictated by profession.
  • Maintain State licensure without disciplinary action.
  • Knowledge of counseling theory and practice.
  • Ability to form therapeutic relationships with clients.
  • Skill in oral and written communication.
  • Ability to form cooperative supportive relationships with staff/agency.
  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related field.
  • Must possess or be eligible to obtain a license as a mental health therapist from the Nebraska Department of Health.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual, family and group counseling therapy sessions as assigned.
  • Meets expectations for monthly productivity.
  • Provides crisis intervention and assessment/evaluation, including after hours and on weekends.
  • Provides services at other HCS locations as assigned, which may include travel.
  • Communicates with clients and their support systems to determine the family and community resources available and makes appropriate referrals.
  • Provides community education services as assigned.
  • Demonstrates willingness to maintain flexibility and openness to new information.
  • Provides case consultation as needed.
  • Maintains up to date client charts to include assessment, social history, psychotherapy notes, treatment plans and discharge plans.
  • Attends continuing education classes annually to maintain theory and practice.
  • Attends scheduled supervisory and clinical staff meetings.
  • Attends scheduled session observations with supervisor.
  • Completes all paperwork in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
  • Implements new assessments, paperwork and screenings tools as directed.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively with necessary outside individuals and agencies.
  • Provides after hours coverage as needed for other programs/therapists within scope of practice.
  • Participates in community events as assigned.
  • Participates in a planning committee as assigned.
  • Communicates and collaborates effectively within the agency.
  • Always follows professional ethics.
  • Adheres to all agency policy and procedures
  • Adheres to agency policy on confidentiality
  • Other duties as assigned.
