About The Position

The Referral Coordinator’s primary function is coordination, processing, registering and scheduling of medical referrals and securing prior authorization for a variety of medical services. As an integral member of the health care team, the Referral Coordinator will collaborate with other medical providers and medical assistants. Provides support with the daily activities of a medical office including filing, telephone coverage, greeting patients and their families by performing the following duties.

Requirements

High School Graduate
Ability to perform highly detailed work with sustained attention and aware while providing/obtaining information on numerous inquiries is paramount to success in this position.

Responsibilities

Works with the referring physician to secure necessary documents.
In a timely manner complies necessary documents to present to the clinical team for review.
Reviews in detail the referral process with the parent/guardian
Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry
Schedules appointments and enters appointment date and time into computerized scheduler with a high rate of accuracy.
Provides exemplary customer service; treats patients and coworkers with courtesy and discretion. Greets and directs patients, salespeople, and visitors.
Registers patients by verifying that patient's record is up to date and accurate.
Makes appropriate changes in computer system
Enters confidential personal health information and financial information into computerized system with a high rate of accuracy.
Complies with federal and local laws in ensuring patient privacy.
Maintains log of authorizations received and communicates with the PCP regarding necessary documents.
Maintains a log of referrals received and detailed status of referral
Enters treatment authorizations into the computer system.
Verifies eligibility of insurance coverage.
Other duties as assigned.
