Diploma or Equivalent 6 Years Years of relevant experience can be substituted in lieu of degree REQUIRED Experience 5 Years Related experience in acute care hospital coding with progressive responsibility with coding and leadership REQUIRED 1 Year Performing coding audits and reviews REQUIRED Licenses and Certifications RHIA - Registered Health Information Administrator preferred or RHIT - Registered Health Information Technician preferred or COC - Certified Outpatient Coder Upon Hire REQUIRED or CCS - Certified Coding Specialist Upon Hire REQUIRED or Other CIC, CPC, CCSP Upon Hire REQUIRED Skills Proficient in software applications (Excel, Word, Optum CAC, EPIC). Thorough knowledge of ICD 10-CM, PCS and/or CPT. Expert in coding convention/automated encoder (knowledge management of NCCI/OCE billing edits). Knowledgeable in APC and/or DRG methodologies and all regulatory/payer requirements associated with coding. Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply THR coding policies and procedures to record review process. Demonstrated time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated clear and concise oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated strong decision making and problem-solving skills. Personal initiative to keep abreast of new developments in coding updates/technology/research/regulatory data. Requirements

  • Associate's Degree HIM or other healthcare related field 4 Years REQUIRED or
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent 6 Years Years of relevant experience can be substituted in lieu of degree REQUIRED
  • 5 Years Related experience in acute care hospital coding with progressive responsibility with coding and leadership REQUIRED
  • 1 Year Performing coding audits and reviews REQUIRED
  • COC - Certified Outpatient Coder Upon Hire REQUIRED or
  • CCS - Certified Coding Specialist Upon Hire REQUIRED or

Nice To Haves
