About The Position

Overview: Position: Northside Gwinnett Outpatient Cardiopulmonary Rehab Supervisor Location: Lawrenceville, Georgia Experience: Experienced Clinicians Welcome to Apply Employment Type: Full-Time, 32-40 hours/week Innovative Therapy Concepts is a Physical Therapist owned and operated Therapy management organization that was founded by Joe Sapp, PT in 2006. We began our partnership with Northside Gwinnett in 2013 to provide rehabilitation services throughout the Northside Gwinnett system. ITC is searching for a Cardiopulmonary Rehab Specialist that is passionate about patient recovery in a teamwork environment. Northside Gwinnett Outpatient rehab is a newly renovated outpatient rehab gym. Patients are evaluated and incorporated into a group setting to provide cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. Cardiopulmonary rehab includes education on nutrition, exercise progression, disease progression and more. Team-focused approach as there is interdisciplinary collaboration as well as active communication with many healthcare providers We Are Seeking: Cardiopulmonary Specialist with a strong drive to learn and grow - enhance your clinical skills while working with an experienced team Candidate with a strong emphasis on patient care, quality, outcomes, and efficiency Graduate from an accredited respiratory care program with an Associate’s degree or equivalent and RRT credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory care. Valid state license Responsible individual with a solid work ethic Excellent communication and people skills

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse : must maintain current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Georgia OR Exercise Physiologist : Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or Sports Medicine.
  • Certified in cardio‑pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (ACLS).

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years experience in cardiology involving the exercise treatment of cardiac patients
  • Prior experience with various types of cardiac equipment.
  • Certified by AACVPR as clinical specialist preferred.
  • Preferred certification by the American College of Sports Medicine as an Exercise Test Technologist or Exercise Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and assists with completion of all competencies required for the AACVPR program certification.
  • Develops and updates Individualized Treatment Plans.
  • Collaborates with other disciplines as needed.
  • Assesses patient, assists patient in setting goals, plans education and interventions for disease self-management, and provides educational resources and instruction.
  • Monitors patients before, during, and after exercise for physiologic variables, which may include breath sounds, heart rate, oxygen saturation, blood pressure, rate of perceived exertion, dyspnea, and pain for abnormal findings, modifies or terminates exercise, instructs patient in breathing techniques, adjusts oxygen flow rate, or provides other interventions as indicated.
  • Documents findings in patient record.
  • Follows Medical Emergency Response policy.
  • Assists with education programs such as screenings, support groups, staff continuing education, marketing events, and speaking engagements.
  • May write articles for quarterly hospital publications and make public presentations to provide rehabilitation information.
  • Assists with health fairs as required.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/patient/visitor injury-accident to Director.
  • Administers and interprets standardized assessments/tests.
  • Evaluates nursing/unit activities, sets patient care priorities and recommends operational changes to enhance services of the unit.
  • Supervises nursing/patient care staff, including orienting, training, counseling, and evaluating.
  • Maintains adequate supplies, equipment, etc. for operations of unit.
  • Makes appropriate recommendations to control the operational budget.
  • Participates in the unit Quality Improvement activities.
  • Serves as a communication liaison between patients, families, staff, and physicians, and reports critical consequences of actions taken to Manager or Director.
  • Complies with hospital and professional license, certification, in‑service, and training requirements, and committee and conference participation as appropriate for position.
  • Maintains familiarity with cardiac and pulmonary rehab care issues relating to medical problems, surgical procedures, and diagnostic studies, and technical training in the use of equipment pertinent to area.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Immediately reports any mechanical or electrical equipment malfunctions, unsafe conditions, or employee/visitor/patient injury‑accident to Manger or Director.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervision.
