About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The CSV Pool Coordinator develops and manages an effective Aquatics team at the Summer Outdoor Pools, ensuring staff are prepared for emergency response and day-to-day pool events. The Aquatics Director promotes a safe and fun environment for members to participate in open swim and fulfilling programs.

Requirements

  • Current certifications in American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, Administering Emergency Oxygen, Bloodborne Pathogens
  • Two years of college orat least two years of related work experience
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community

Nice To Haves

  • YSL or WSI, Lifeguard Instructor, and AFO or CPO certifications preferred
  • Studying recreation, Aquatics management, Exercise science, physical recreation, or related field preferred
  • Three years of related experience in Aquatic Programming and six months of supervisory experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversees day-to-day work of lifeguarding staff, pool activities, and member engagement, supporting and guiding staff and patrons as necessary
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules, and directs staff and volunteers. Monitor audit, and review Aquatics staff behavior and performance, providing coaching and feedback to motivate staff and achieve personal and organizational goals.
  • Schedules and supervises Aquatics programming, ensuring activities and times serve the community members effectively.
  • Lead the response during emergency situations and ensure the proper application of skills and emergency procedures. Debrief with staff after the incident, facilitate documentation of events, and submit incident reports the day of the incident.
  • Ensure that staff are regularly monitoring water quality, chemical levels, and facility safety to ensure compliance with local regulations and YMCA policies. Immediately report sanitation or maintenance issues to the Facilities Department and communicate with appropriate personnel when evacuating pools
  • Attend and assist in the administration of all staff meetings and trainings. Responsible for ensuring all City of Spokane Valley Pools staff complete required trainings and in-services.
  • Ensure self and staff compliance with all YMCA policies, rules, and regulations. Ensures all facilities and staff follow the YMCA Aquatics Safety Plan.
