Requirements

  • Must be a current student or recent graduate of a university or college.
  • Minimum of a rising sophomore level.
  • Coursework related to the internship role: Industrial Engineering/Distribution Statistics
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Technical Skills: Basic proficiency in tools or software relevant to the role are Microsoft Office, Advanced Excel, AutoCAD is a plus but not required.
  • Soft Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability skills

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Director of Distribution and Logistics on a process improvement project for Outbound operations.
  • Interview DC (Distribution Center) employees associated with Outbound operations to gain a better understanding of current Operations.
  • Gather pertinent data for picking and loading operations.
  • Present data findings to Director of Distribution.
  • Assist with analyzing data points and determining best course of action.
  • Review labor costs and functions associated with Outbound operations with the Dir of Distribution.
  • Provide reports on project progress (bi-weekly).
  • Publish and brief final process improvement report to Dir of Ops and VP of Operations.
  • Produce a “Draft” operating procedure to support findings.
  • Assist with validating operating procedure.
  • Implement/train operating procedure with DC supervisors.
  • Review Outbound work processes, recommend measures to improve productivity methods, equipment performance, and quality of product or service, and suggests changes in working conditions to increase efficiency.
  • Estimate material, time, and staffing requirements for a given project, based on work orders, job specifications, and experience.
  • Other duties as assigned.
