About The Position

The Opportunity: Avantor is seeking an Outbound Distribution Supervisor (2nd Shift) to supervise a team of distribution associates and/or distribution analysts with a focus on setting objectives, operational plans, and tactical priorities that directly impact short-term performance (up to one year) across warehouse areas. The Supervisor will have the opportunity to ensure and maintain workload levels where associates can continue meeting service levels required to support the business needs. Work Schedule: M-F, 11:30AM - 8:30PM with additional hours as needed. How you will thrive and create an impact: Drives service levels, safety performance, labor efficiency, and cost control initiatives. Develops and implements new processes, standards, and operational plans aligned with business strategies, such as scaling throughput capacity, enhancing service reliability, or integrating new technologies to improve efficiency and compliance. Works on complex problems and issues that require consideration of cross-functional dependencies, including transportation, supply planning, and customer service, where solutions are informed by best practices, operational data, KPIs and analysis of multiple factors. Interacts regularly with other distribution supervisors and associates on matters affecting distribution operations, strategic initiatives, and customer expectations. Influences and persuades internal stakeholders and external partners in sensitive or complex situations, such as resolving service failures or driving major process changes, while maintaining strong working relationships. Focuses on printing, picking, packing and shipping of finished goods to various locations throughout the regions. Collaborates with the sales, transportation, planning operations and supply chain teams across the network to ensure orders are shipped accordingly and in a timely manner. Responsible for ensuring the safety of team members, training and coaching of team members, identifying process gaps, recommending improvements to enhance shipping accuracy and on time services. Raises escalation requests to meet the needs of our internal and external customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of distribution/relevant experience and responsibilities preferred, 1 of which must be in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience operating material handling equipment.
  • Shipping experience with imports and exports.
  • Must have strong leadership skills and problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform risk assessment of products and processes and develop corrective measures.
  • Must be able to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations.
  • Computer literacy applied to scheduling, procedure revisions and data management is required.
  • Ability to take initiative, meet deadlines, and lead people in a team environment.
  • Must be hands-on, team oriented and committed to business improvement processes.

Nice To Haves

  • Life science, chemistry, chemical engineering or chemical production experience is a plus.
  • Experience in cGMP manufacturing a plus.
  • Familiarity with Chemical and/or Aseptic production processes and applications within similar industry preferred.
  • Proven track record of reducing costs through process improvements and efficiencies.
