About The Position

Are you fun, creative, and like to work with children ages 5-12 years old? Are you a team player and enjoy creating a fun, safe atmosphere for children to learn and play? If so, we would love for you to apply and join our School's Out team at the Montachusett Community Branch YMCA! Under the supervision of the Director of Child Care Services, the Out of School Time Educator plans and implements a developmentally appropriate curriculum geared to the needs of each child in his/her care/classroom/program, including the health & safety of the children and adherence to all YMCA Child Protection policies.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous experience working with children (at least 6 months) required
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications required; or within 60 days of hire
  • Child Abuse Prevention training required within 30 days of hire
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with diver populations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a group of children and program activities
  • Follow all policies, procedures, and standards as established by the law, the YMCA, all MA Departments of EE&C regulations; maintains the program site, equipment; and required program records
  • Nurtures children through purposeful programming; plan activities that are intended to achieve program goals and outcomes, are developmentally appropriate and are consistent with the Y's values.
  • Creates a positive rapport and shared interest with youth; models relationship-building skills in all interactions
  • Provides and welcomes ongoing dialogue with parents and caregivers about their child's needs and progress; connects families to the Y.
  • Project a professional image, including a neat appearance, a positive manner and dependable attendance and be a role model for children families, and other staff.
  • Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff trainings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
