About The Position

The hours after school can shape a child’s confidence, friendships, and future. As an Out-of-School Time Program Aide, you’ll help create a safe, supportive, and fun environment where youth can learn, explore, and belong. From helping with homework to leading games and activities, you’ll play an important role in helping kids grow while living out the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. POSITION SUMMARY At the direction of Supervisor OST, the Aide OST will assist in the delivery of the program to include curriculum development, behavior management, participant safety and evaluation. The Aide will deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA. Requirements

  • Minimum 16 years old
  • Strong skills in human relations
  • Upon hiring, complete 25-40 hours of license required childcare training
  • Within 30 days of hire, complete YMCA onboarding requirements, required training and certifications including, Bloodborne, First Aid and HazMat

Responsibilities

  • Support program, daily curriculum activities, in-service days / holidays in accordance with YMCA philosophy and state licensing requirements
  • Implement risk management to provide safety and well-being of all children
  • Integrate YMCA character development program into daily programming
  • Assist Site Supervisor with parental communications and staff with appropriate interactions with children, including discipline procedures
  • Proactively clean and/or repair program areas; maintain supplies and equipment
  • Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA Annual Support Campaign, and general procedures and policies, including personnel guidelines, facility access procedures, membership policies, and emergency plans
  • Attend all training courses, staff meetings and in-services without exception
  • Follow dress code; require staff to adhere with staff shirts, name badge, closed-toes shoes
  • Provide accurate information about membership and programs
  • Be familiar with the mission statement and core values of the YMCA. Model the core values while working and communicating with other staff members
